Investor perks listed
in new guide

A helping hand up the property ladder and cheap Eurostar deals are some of the shareholder perks featured in a free guide published by Barclays Stockbrokers.

The most generous investor give-away, from housebuilder Barratt, is a discount of 500 pounds for every 25,000 pounds spent on a new home.

Eurotunnel offers shareholders 30 per cent off for three return tickets a year, while Fuller's brewers provides 10 per cent to 50 per cent reductions on its hotel prices as an inducement to buy into the company.

Meanwhile, Mulberry dangles a 20 per cent discount store card, Bloomsbury knocks 35 per cent off the price of its books, and insurer Legal and General reduces the price of certain insurance products.

Although most of the deal have no strings attached, Barratt, for instance, specifies 1,000 shares held for at least a year before buying a home in order to qualify for the discount.

And some companies only offer the perks to people holding share certificates, which rules out nominee accounts.
