10% of children have part time job
Almost one in ten children earn more than £900 per year through part-time jobs, according to research.
Paper-rounds, car washing and household chores are all money spinners for under-18s, with 9% of children earning £17.93 a week on average - which adds up to £932.36 per year.
Halifax figures show 43% of working children had a paper round, 18% did shopwork and 16% washed cars, while 62% of children aged between eight and 15 picked up extra cash from their parents for tidying their bedrooms or washing up.
Children's work shows significant regional diversity, with 25% of kids in London having a job, working longer hours (8.19 compared with the national average of 5) but taking home the wage - about £30.33 per week.
Only 5% of children in the North East are likely to earn money through formal and informal work, although those that do have the highest average hourly rate at £5.09.
Those in the South East are the second best well-paid, picking up an average £4.84 per hour, but London's children pick up about £3.69. Parent and employers in Yorkshire and the Humber are the most stingy, paying children just £1.98 per hour on average.
